CabotEveryone has heard about the "Microsoft millionaires," the hundreds or even thousands of Microsoft employees who have become millionaires through the exercise of stock options. In today's environment, technology start-ups and New Economy growth companies must offer stock options or other forms of stock compensation in order to attract and retain key employees. Venture capitalists may even insist that an option pool be established to incentivize employees.
