Dick Blair brings more than 32 years of experience as a trial lawyer and mediator to the practice of assisting clients with business litigation and mediation.
Dick represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of business, real estate, and employment disputes, particularly involving pre-litigation counseling and litigation of disputes among business owners. He has represented lawyers, doctors, engineers, accountants, and other business owners in diverse disputes involving ownership and control of businesses. He has also litigated plaintiff and defense securities claims; dealer/distribution litigation; health care business claims; professional negligence claims; real estate claims; and claims involving employment issues, trade secrets, patent license and lender fraud. Dick’s extensive experience includes handling the following matters for his clients:
- Prosecution of breach of a patent license agreement claim by a corporate inventor and licensor of patented water filtration devices in an action against a national producer and distributor
- Defense of U.S. technology and equipment manufacturing company against antitrust, unfair competition and breach of contract claims brought by the client's dealers in various state courts
- Prosecution of breach of contract and misrepresentation claims by an international Dutch investment bank against an English bank and several corporate officers and directors in connection with a loan buy-out agreement
- Defense of a medical group in action by a departing partner for share of partner profits; successfully prosecuted claim against departing partner for fraud and secret profits
- Successful defense of a certified public accountant in action involving dissolution of partnership and defense of claim for partnership value
Dick’s active community involvement is substantial. He is a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center Foundation and is also a director of Environmental Traveling Companions, a San Francisco based organization which provides outdoor adventures to the disabled and inner-city youth. He is a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of Orinda Preschool, Past Co-President of the Del Ray Parents Club, and Past President of the Miramonte High School Sports Boosters Club.
Dick has been recognized as a Northern California "Super Lawyer" in the Law & Politics magazine surveys for 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009. Dick is also listed in the "Best Lawyers in the Bay Area" directory as published by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine, November/December 2005 issue. Dick also served as a U.S. Naval Officer from 1968-1972, with one combat tour in Vietnam.
