Ken Miller Named to the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame
Ken Miller was named to the CHF Hall of Fame in 2010, marking the HOF's first inclusion of an attorney. The Hall of Fame, celebrating its 26th year, is comprised of 176 men and women whose contributions have resulted in the long-term advancement of homebuilding, construction, development, marketing, finanace or related services within the building industry in California. The honorees are also involved in public service, civic, social and philanthropic organizations in their communities.
Morgan Miller Blair Named One of the 100 "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area for 2010"
Morgan Miller Blair was ranked #10 in the 51-100 employee category in the "Best Places to Work" competition by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. The Firm has been named to the list every year since 2005. The Firm's overall score consistently puts them in first place among all of the other law firms in the Bay Area. The rankings were based on results from employee and management surveys provided by the publications, which focused on best practices, work environments, and benefits.
Steven R. Harmon Recognized as one of the East Bay's "40 under 40" Honorees
Steve Harmon, a member of Morgan Miller Blair's Business & Technology Group, was selected by the East Bay Business Times out of a record number of nominations as one of 40 East Bay young business leaders for 2006. Each year the East Bay Business Times “40 Under 40” recognizes 40 talented individuals under the age of 40 who are making a positive impact on the East Bay’s development. Honorees were chosen based on their vision, passion, commitment, visibility, diversity of interests and involvement in their communities.
Morgan Miller Blair Attorneys Named Super Lawyers in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009
MMB attorneys have consistently been named to the list of Northern California Super Lawyers, an elite group recognized for their high degree of professional achievement. This group, representing the top five percent of attorneys practicing in Northern California, has been selected based on an independent survey of more than 46,000 active lawyers by Law & Politics magazine. In addition, Patricia Curtin has been named as one of the Top 50 Female attorney in the Bay Area in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2009, Monica Sloboda was named a Northern Calfornia Rising Star, recognizing the top 2.5 percent of the attorneys under 40 and having practiced law for less than 10 years.
Morgan Miller Blair Receives Equal Access to Justice Chief Justice Ronald M. George Pro Bono Award
Morgan Miller Blair was selected by Contra Costa County's five legal services agencies as the first recipient of the Equal Access to Justice Chief Justice Ronald M. George Pro Bono Award for the firm's continued public service and support of pro bono in the community. The award was presented to Morgan Miller Blair in part due to the Firm's establishment of the Morgan Miller Blair Fellowship in September 2005.
Attorneys Named "Best Lawyers in the Bay Area"
Morgan Miller Blair attorneys have been consistently recognized as “Best Lawyers in the Bay Area” by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine. Attorneys are nominated and chosen by a peer survey for being the most effective lawyers in their respective areas of practice. The “Best Lawyers in the Bay Area" list has included : Dick Blair, commercial litigation; Joshua Cohen, commercial litigation; Ken Miller, construction; and Patricia Curtin, land use.
Steven R. Harmon Named "Top Drawer" Attorney in Mergers and Acquisitions
Steve Harmon was named by the East Bay Business Times as a “Top-Drawer Attorney” in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions. In the last year, Steve has negotiated in excess of $100M in deals for clients in the business, technology, construction and real estate industries. Morgan Miller Blair—An Honored Hero in the East Bay
At the 4th Annual East Bay Leadership Foundation (EBLF) Awards Gala, Morgan Miller Blair was honored with the prestigious Chairman’s Award. As the first-time recipient of this award, Morgan Miller Blair was recognized for its outstanding dedication and extraordinary range of service to the community. Although the firm’s contributions are numerous, it was specifically acknowledged for its work as a corporate partner of the EBLF, as a founding corporate partner with HomeAid and as a significant supporter of the Diablo Regional Arts Association and the Diablo Ballet. In an email to all staff, Mike Brown, one of the firm’s principals said, “Personally, I am very proud and happy to work alongside the generous and caring people of Morgan Miller Blair. This award memorializes our commitment to the community and is a reminder of the difference we make in the world around us.” Nominations for the award were made by the public and reviewed by an appointed Awards Committee.
